 Louisiana Employees Online (LEO)
Performance Evaluation System (PES)

CPTP provides training on the new Performance Evaluation System (PES) process. All PES courses are available online. The online PES courses are:

  • CPTP PES Basics
  • CPTP PES Planning Process
  • CPTP PES Evaluation Process

The three courses, PES Basics, Planning, Planning, and Evaluation, are required for any classified employee who conducts the planning and evaluation (PES) for classified state employees. The courses must be completed within 90 days of hire or promotion/appointment to the supervisory role.

CPTP also provides the optional CPTP PES Forms course to help support supervisors while they complete the PES form.

For questions about the PES process, please review the Performance Evaluation System section of the site.

PES Basics

This web-based training program builds the foundation for employees to understand what a performance evaluation system is, what are its features and benefits and why organizations use such systems.

Intended Audience: State employees who have limited familiarity with performance evaluation systems or who would like to more fully understand the rationale for using a performance evaluation system.

Availability: This course is available in LEO. See below for directions.

PES Planning Process

This web-based training program covers the specifics of the state’s PES Planning process from three different perspectives: employees, supervisors, and 2nd Level Evaluators. The process of the planning system is covered from beginning to end including:

Availability: This course is available in LEO. See below for directions.

PES Evaluation Process

A partner to the PES Planning Process course, PES Evaluation Process covers the specifics of the annual performance evaluation from the perspectives of the employee, supervisor, and 2nd level evaluators. The function and process of the evaluation session is covered, including:

  • Timeline of evaluation process
  • Evaluation session-relevant sections of the PES form and how to complete them
  • Roles of the supervisor, employee and 2nd level evaluator in the evaluation process
  • Guidelines on rating fairly and accurately
  • Guidelines on documentation support
  • Process of agency and Civil Service review of ratings

Intended audience: State employees, supervisors and 2ndlevel evaluators. The course interface directs users to relevant learning paths based on self-identified role. All learning paths are accessible to all users, but offer information targeted by role in the process.

Availability: This course is available in LEO. See below for directions.

PES Form

This course is a quick reference tool available for anyone who needs to complete all or a portion of the PES form. The course covers each section of the form and what is expected to be included and/or attached to the form.
