To begin your search, click here.
*Please note that the State of Louisiana is not responsible for postings viewed outside
the LA Careers system. Applicants must apply within the announced open period for
all vacancies. Late applications, no matter their source, will not be accepted.

General Job Information
*Please note that the links listed below provide general information about Civil
Service jobs. They do not represent current vacancies. To access current vacancies,
please click on the LA Careers icon above.
Learn the basics of how the application process works
The first step in the application process is to search for currently announced vacancies.
You can apply online by visiting
http://agency.governmentjobs.com/louisiana. Select the search criteria (i.e.
location, categories, etc.) that meet your requirements and click on the ‘Apply
Search’ button.
- If you are new to state employment, you can only apply for job vacancies announced
Probational/Original or Temporary - up to 36 months.
- It is important to note that some vacancies require a test or exam before an applicant
may be considered for hire. For applicants who need to test, applying within the
LA Careers system will be a two-step process. First, you will select a test and
apply to take the test. Then, once you have tested, you will apply for individual
job vacancies. To learn whether the job you want to apply for requires a test and
how to apply to take a test go to the section below on State Civil Service Testing
Information.
When viewing a posting for a vacancy you are interested in and for which you qualify,
select ‘Apply’ to begin the application submission process. If this is the first
time you are applying using our online job application, you will need to create
an account and select a username and password. After your account has been established,
you can then complete the application form. It is important to include all work
experience and education. This application can be saved and used to apply for more
than one job. Be careful to answer all supplemental questions for each job posting.
Failure to answer the questions could affect your eligibility for consideration
for the job vacancy.
Job Interest Cards
You may also choose to have e-mails sent to you when jobs are posted that meet your
requirements. This can be requested by selecting 'Job Interest Card' and filling
in the required information. When jobs are posted that meet your requirements, you
will be sent an email.
