Civil Service Testing
Civil Service Test List
The
following tests are used mostly for new hiring:
- Engineering Assistant SERIES -
1111 This test is
used to fill beginning-level jobs in drafting, materials testing, fuels
inspection, etc. No prior experience or education is required.
- Accounting Paraprofessional
Test (APT) - SERIES 4242 This test is used to fill
Accounting Specialist and Accountant Technician jobs, which involve accounting
and bookkeeping duties.
- Clerical Office &
Administrative Support Test (COAST) - SERIES 7000/01 This
test is used to fill clerical jobs such as Administrative Assistant and
Administrative Coordinator. The optional COAST-Typing Skills test is
available in most Test Centers.
- COAST-Typing Skills Test -
SERIES 7002 This
test may be required for jobs such as Administrative Coordinator 1, 2, 3 or 4; and Administrative Assistant 1-6.
- Wildlife and Fisheries
Technician - SERIES 7200 This test is used to fill
beginning-level jobs in various wildlife and fisheries management areas. No
prior experience or education is required.
- Professional Entry Test (PET)
- SERIES 7333 This test is used to fill professional jobs such as Medicaid Analyst, Probation
and Parole Officer, Computer Programmer, Purchasing Agent, and Human Resource
Analyst.
- Motor Vehicle Compliance
Analyst Test - SERIES 7900/01 This test is used for Motor
Vehicle office jobs that issue driver's licenses, title registrations and
license plates, and do other compliance tasks concerning motor vehicle
regulations.
Tests
used mostly for promotion of permanent classified State employees:
- Parish Highway Maintenance
Supervisor - SERIES 2812 This
test is used primarily for non-competitive promotion of permanent employees in
the Department of Transportation and Development.
- Professional Supervisor -
SERIES 3700 This
test is used to fill jobs which supervise professional employees. Most are
filled by promotion of permanent State employees.
- Professional Manager - SERIES
4900 This test is
used to fill managerial and administrative jobs. Almost all are filled by
promotion of permanent State employees.
- Highway Foreman - SERIES
4300 This test is
used primarily for non-competitive promotion of permanent employees in the
Department of Transportation and Development.
- Law Enforcement & Protective
Services (LEAPS) - SERIES 7500 This
test is used to fill law enforcement jobs such as Police Officer 1 and 2 and
Wildlife Enforcement Cadet
- Law Enforcement and Protective
Services (LEAPS) Supervisor - SERIES 7700 This test is used to fill positions such as Police
Lieutenant.
