Professionals through HR Curriculum

PLEASE MAKE THIS GENERAL CIRCULAR AVAILABLE TO ALL CPTP AND MANDATORY TRAINING COORDINATORS.
Civil Service, along with LASERS and the CPTP Program, would like to
announce an additional course module to the HR Curriculum training. The new module available to HR professionals
is titled “Module 7: LA State Employees’
Retirement System (LASERS) Agency Training-Retirement Reference Manual (RRM)
Workshop.”
This 1-day class is designed to help HR professionals effectively counsel state employees regarding retirement. For specific content details, please review the following course description.
This workshop will include LASERS updates and
details associated with everything from enrollment of a member to guiding an
employee through the retirement process.
The curriculum will include changes in current legislation; enrollment
information; contribution reporting;
purchases of service credit; refund of contributions; survivor benefits;
various types of retirement-disability, early retirement, regular, deferred
retirement option plan (DROP), and initial benefit option (IBO); eligibility
requirements; and rehired retirees. It is recommended the workshop be attended
annually by Human Resource and Payroll professionals.
