STATE OF
DEPARTMENT OF STATE
CIVIL SERVICE
BATON ROUGE,
June 14, 2007
General
Circular No. 1698
To: Heads of State Agencies and
Human Resource Directors
Subject: Postponement of Implementation of Mandatory Training Policy,
Version 2
Issue
Date: June 14, 2007
Note to Human Resource Directors: Please read and make sure this information is
distributed to the Mandatory Training Coordinator and CPTP Coordinator for your
agency.
In cooperation
with CPTP, we are temporarily delaying the implementation of the Mandatory Training Policy, Version
2 that was to become effective July 1, 2007 (see Civil Service Handbook Update
2007-0004 issued March 22, 2007).
All involved
parties were aware that there were some issues with how mandatory training data
is collected and the agencies’ ability to report the compliance of their
employees under the new policy. In
discussions over the past few days we have all become fully aware of the
magnitude of these reporting issues. We
believe that postponing this implementation is critical to the ongoing success
of the mandatory training program and ensuring that training information can be
documented without undue complications.
We will be contacting members of the HR and Training community in the
near future to get input on how to best address these reporting
requirements.
The course
requirements listed in the revised policy on the CPTP web site will not change
as a result of this postponement. So, employees may continue to schedule
classes as planned. The postponement
also does not change any previously established deadlines for supervisors and
managers currently working toward completion of mandatory training
requirements.
We thank you for
your patience as we work out the best available reporting solution. If you have questions, please contact Dwuena
Wyre (dwuena.wyre@la.gov) or
Sincerely,
s/
