Workplace Violence
The State of
Louisiana
is committed to a violence-free
workplace for State employees.
Employees are expected to be familiar with and to follow the
Workplace Violence Policy of their agency and to report any acts or threats of
violence in accordance with their agency’s policy. Training in this area is
required of employees every three years.
Activities which should not be tolerated:
Assault: Any willful attempt to inflict injury on a person when coupled with an
apparent ability to do so, or any intentional display of force such as would
give the victim reason to fear or expect immediate bodily harm.
Credible
threat: A statement or action
which has the apparent capability of inflicting harm and is directed in a manner
that causes a person to know they are the target of the threat, and it places
them in reasonable fear for their safety or the safety of their immediate
family.
Violence: Is any unjust or unwarranted exertion of force or power. It is not limited to fatalities or injuries. It can refer to any intentional actions or words meant to embarrass,
ridicule, degrade, or provoke another that results in physical or emotional
injury to that person. It is any
verbal, physical, or psychological threat or assault on an individual that has
the intention or results in physical or psychological damage.
