The Probation Period of a new employee is a working test period. This period is
considered to be part of the employee selection process.
The probationary period lasts at least six months, but no longer than 24 months.
An agency may opt to grant permanent status to an employee at any time during
the period that falls between 6 months and 24 months after the employee’s
probational appointment.
The granting of permanent status is dependent upon the employee’s satisfactory
performance in his/her job.
