Civil Service Tests

Civil Service Tests

For certain positions within state service, the Department of Civil Service requires that applicants take a test to be eligible for hire.

Each link below gives you information on a test that the Department of Civil Service administers. Within the links, you will find a list of jobs which are associated with the test, a link to apply for the test, and sample test questions.

For applicants who need to test, applying within the LA Careers system will be a two-step process. First, you will select a test below and apply to take the test. Then, once you have tested, you will apply for individual job vacancies.  Please note that after applying for a test, you must wait 90 days before reapplying to take it again. For more information about testing, please see the FAQ page.
