Compensation Division

The main functions of the Staffing Division of the Department of State Civil Service are the recruitment, selection and provision of candidates for State employment.  The Division is composed of three primary units:

  2. Selection & Assessment Agency Assistance Team - (225) 342-8536

  3. Testing and Recruiting Office Team - (225) 925-1911

The scoring and security of written exams administered by Civil Service are handled by the Selection and Assessment Applicant Team.  Special testing accommodations, maintenance of candidate data and overall technical administration of the LA Careers Online Application System are also handled by the Selection and Assessment Applicant Team. The Selection and Assessment Agency Assistance Team handles agency workforce planning, job profiling, and creation and maintenance of Department Preferred Reemployment Lists for agencies which have experienced layoffs.  Consultants in both groups provide technical assistance and training to agencies for the LA Careers system, develop qualification requirements for classified State jobs, and conduct audits of postings and hires made through the online system.

    

General recruitment and the administration of written exams are handled by the Testing and Recruiting Office Team.  Consultants at this office also monitor agency affirmative action plans, and provide information and assistance to applicants interested in State employment.
